Let us take you on a journey of discovery.
Visit the friendly staff at the Moonta History Centre, located in the School of Mines, Ellen Street, Moonta. Our volunteers are experienced researchers in family history as well as the history of Moonta businesses and residences since the establishment of the district. Information is available about the mining history, mining era & families of Cornish Miners.
Assistance can be provided when doing your own research, or for a fee, the research can be done for you.
The team are always on the lookout for new volunteers. If this is something that may be of interest to you, the team are happy to provide you with full training. Please contact Marilyn or Robyn for more information.
Why research your Family History?
To honour those who came before you. Find out more about the people who came before you and see that their lives live on.
Preserve your family history for those who will come after. Allow them to remember and share in the knowledge
To understand yourself and your history better. This helps to understand the world around you.
To bring your family together through their shared history. Understand further the relationships with those around you and those in other communities on the Peninsula.
